There is some information below regarding the programme.  If this is something you are interested in, and can meet the requirements, or indeed if you know of any other family who might be interested in hosting a student(s), then please contact Mrs Elma Birrell in the first instance (elma.birrell@gmail.com) by the 17th May.

Many thanks,

Norwegian Partnership Programme

This has been a very successful project for 8 years where students from Norway have been educated in West Lothian.  Some host families have been with the programme for several years. The students arrive in August just before the start of the term.

The students have to have their own room and there has to be wi-fi in the home of their host.  Families can host more than one student at a time if they have appropriate accommodation.

There will be other Norwegians in the area: we have students who live with hosts in James |Young and Armadale, and they go to school there. It is hoped that they will become integrated into both the school and community as a result. There will be support from the school in the form  of Mrs Birrell at Broxburn Academy, who oversees the programme and links with Norway.

The Norwegian students go home at Christmas and Easter.

The students pay the hosts £120 per week (excluding Christmas and Easter).  This is a financial arrangement: the Norwegian families are paid by the Norwegian Government. An overseas placement for a year is encouraged by their Government and funded accordingly.
