Within the department of Modern Languages you can study French and Spanish at National 4, National 5 and Higher level. You can choose one language, or even better, both!
In the Modern Languages Department, we are passionate about language learning and will equip you with the skills required to pass the course. In the last exam diet for National 5, we had a pass rate of 99% in Spanish and 93% in French!
All of these courses involve the following 4 skills:
Reading: reading texts in the foreign language and answering questions in English. At Higher, this also involves a translation passage.
Listening: listening texts in the foreign language and answering questions in English.
Writing: you will learn how to write in the foreign language - at differing lengths and complexities, depending on the level.
Speaking: you will do some speaking in the foreign language - also at differing lengths depending on the course. This will be assessed by your class teacher.
