The age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the complications which ensue intrigue every audience, and no musical puts it on stage better than this.  With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the original book was a collaborative effort by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse. The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope.

The musical introduced such popular songs as "Anything Goes," "You're the Top," and "I Get a Kick Out of You." Other terrific Cole Porter songs included are "It's De-Lovely", "Friendship", "All Through The Night", "Blow, Gabriel, Blow", "Buddie Beware" and "Easy To Love".

The school production team take on one of their biggest challenges yet; topping the moving NYC set in last year's highly acclaimed "Annie". Hard as it may seem "Anything Goes" is said to be even better than "Annie". The show also boasts the largest cast, largest orchestra and largest number of dancers yet involved.

Between rehearsing furiously to get the show ready to a professional standard the cast gave comment about what the thought of the show. "Best show ever!" "It's really funny backstage!" "Everyone gets on really well and we all have a laugh." Though it is widely agreed that the dance steps - the whole cast can now tap dance! - are by far the hardest with the American accent coming second.

The cast reckon the show is "fantastic". The production team and stage crew agree and with some of the best reviews about for previous shows this show should be no exception.

  • "Huge congratulations to all the talented colleagues and pupils for the fantastic display of their talent and artistry in the school show last night.  It's all singing, all dancing and very, very funny.  So many Broxburn pupils involved in the band and on stage to be proud of...I had a tear in my eye (always do at these things!)."
  • "May I congratulate you, yet again for a fantastic show. I always am so proud to be in this school at this time of year as the kids involved are such a lovely, talented bunch! I know the incredible amount of work you all put in to the show so well done to you all you have more energy that me! :-)"
  • "This is just a quick line to say thank you for a superb evening of entertainment at last night's final show.  I was honestly knocked out by the quality of performances of the students on the stage and in the band. The singing and dancing was of the highest standard-and they had to act too!!  It was also great to see so many new faces on the stage (the future looks good).  The choreography was superb-so slick and they engaged with the audience so well."
  • "The pace of the show was spot on and the dialogue delivered such assurance with comic timing such as the foam in the eye - it could not have been done better!"
  • "Please pass on my appreciation to other members of staff and students who made it all happen and also to the musicians from out with the school who gave of their time to produce such a wonderful performance (the band were a knockout).  Being on the outside looking in is a bit odd but it also lets you experience a one off performance without any knowledge of what to expect (not having seen any rehearsals and the like) and I had to keep reminding myself that this was a school performance it was so professional."
  • "What an absolutely fabulous show!  We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.  Everything about it was so incredibly professional it was hard to believe that the actors and musicians involved were mostly still in school.  The performances just seem to get better and better with each passing year."
  • "It is difficult to put into words how I felt after watching the performance on Thursday night. The talent on display was quite simply incredible. I know how much time and effort goes into these shows, both on your part and of course from the pupils - how would the Americans put it - AWESOME !! The best bit is, I always genuinely forget that I am watching school pupils and imagine that I am sitting in a West End theatre some where - without a doubt where some of those taking part belong and I hope they make it one day."
  • "This show was as good if not better than any west end London show I've ever seen."
