Carousel - 2012

We transported you back to the bustling coast of New England in the late 1800s.  We followed the tragic story of quiet mill worker Julie Jordan as she fell in love with brooding, charismatic carousel barker, Billy Bigelow.  Along the way we met a host of colourful characters, from naive Carrie Pipperidge and goofy fiancĂ© Mr Snow, to sleazy whaler Jigger.  The show boasted a number of well known numbers including 'If I loved you', 'June is Bustin Out All Over' and the popular 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.  The show ran from Tuesday 19th to Thursday 21st June at the Academy's Assembly Hall.

  • "I attended the school show last night. I have been to our shows before and the pupils and staff  always excel themselves. Every year, in common with us all I think it can't possibly get any  better. Last night's show was truly magnificent. Every aspect from beginning to end (I won't say  too much, I don't want to spoil it if you're going tonight) was fabulous. The sets, choreography,  acting and singing was really entertaining. Many thanks to everyone involved for a really great  night out. Congratulations!"
  • "I'd like to second these comments. This is obviously the first school show I have been to here,  and it was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Everyone involved, in my opinion, did  themselves and the school proud!"
  • "I'd like to add my congratulations to all those involved with the show, both backstage and front  stage - another unbelievable evening of entertainment that transports us to the West End -  unbelievably good - I'm still on a "high" after last night's performance and would ask that you  pass on to all the pupils and staff involved enormous congratulations.I know the amount of  hard work and above all time that goes into these productions and can only say yet again, that  Broxburn Academy pupils are second to none!! Tremendous, well done!"
  • "Just had to send an email today congratulating everyone on the success of last night. It was  amazing. The talent and effort that must have gone into such a performance! Well done."
  • "I wanted to say thank you for the invite to tonight's performance. It was  absolutely fantastic.  You must be so proud of your pupils, on and off stage. Your staff showed  how dedicated they  are to the pupils and to the school - this standard of performance does not  happen by itself."

  • "I never got a chance to speak to you after the show on Tuesday. It was wonderful - I would be  surprised if there was a dry eye in the house!"

  • "Just to say I was absolutely bowled over by the professionalism of the performance on  Wednesday evening. The quality of the singing and the dramatic performances were utterly  superb for secondary children.  The producer got the casting spot on; the choreography was  really good and the orchestra first class.  Well done all round. Thank you for inviting me and I  would be grateful if you would pass on my remarks to the cast."
  • "Congratulations to all on the school show again - different feel this year due to the nature of  story but great performances all round - cast, band, crew, front of house - brilliant!"
  • "What a wonderful Show the pupils and staff have produced! Loved it!"
