Dear Parent/Carer

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Broxburn Academy Website.

Among the many highlights of the school year are the Junior Success Evening and the Senior Award Ceremony where the hard work and achievements of our pupils are recognised. This school not only recognises outstanding exam results, which improve every year, but also the wider achievements and progress made by our conscientious pupils.

Broxburn Academy takes pride in the many varied extra-curricular activities on offer for pupils to get involved in - made possible by the efforts of our dedicated staff. These include:

  • The Wind Band, who went on a European tour in 2015
  • The annual school show which involves pupils from S1 through to S6
  • Debate club
  • STEM club
  • Sports clubs of all kinds such as football, basketball, table tennis, hockey and dance; amongst many others.

As the first school in Scotland to achieve the LGBT Silver Charter Award, Broxburn Academy is eager to promote equality and respect. As part of our Rights Respecting Schools award we developed our RESPECT policy. This stands for Responsible, Enthusiastic, Successful, Positive, Equal, Committed & Trustworthy - traits that we have decided to value and commit to as a school. We have been working towards gaining the Rights Respecting School Award Level 1 and earlier this year achieved this.
